The 2012 Hawai‘i Food & Wine Festival “Chef Series” continues at noon Saturday, Aug. 18, with Chef Ed Kenney of Town in Kaimuki.
Chef Kenney will cook up his famous pa‘i‘ai, flatiron steak, tomato and watercress with help from his son, Duke, at the demonstration kitchen on level four of Macy’s Ala Moana Center.
Admission is $5, which will benefit the Hawai‘i Agricultural Foundation. Reservations are not required, but seating begins at 11:30 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis.
This month, Macy’s has showcased some of the extraordinary chefs who will dish up delectable eats at the 2012 Hawai‘i Food & Wine Festival from Sept. 6 to 9 at various venues including the Modern Honolulu, Halekulani, Hilton Hawaiian Village, Hyatt Regency Waikiki, JW Marriott Ihilani and Aulani Resort.
Chef Mark Noguchi of Hanohano He‘eia (formerly of He‘eia Kea Pier General Store and Deli) is scheduled to offer a demonstration on Sept. 1 and Chef Nancy Silverton of Osteria Mozza in Los Angeles is slated for Sept. 8.
The second annual festival is a benefit for the Hawai‘i Agricultural Foundation, UH Culinary Institute of the Pacific, Leeward Community College Culinary Arts Program and non-profit groups Paepae o He‘eia and Papahana Kuaola. Last year, the inaugural event raised $250,000.
