Goodwill supporters turned out at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall on Thursday, Aug. 23, for the inaugural “Goodwill Goes GLAM!” gala dinner, pair of fashion shows and VIP pre-sale shopping from the more than 50,000 items for men, women and children that will be available all weekend long.
The ambitious “Goodwill Goes GLAM!” sales event officially opened Friday, Aug. 24, and will continue from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and tomorrow, Aug. 26. Admission is $4; a three-day $25 Fast Pass allows for bypassing entry lines, use of a Red Carpet Lounge and expedited checkout. Sales will benefit Goodwill Industries of Hawaii’s community programs.
Thursday’s fashion show opened with an encore of “Goodwill Goes Green,” a collection of re-purposed designs created by 2012 University of Hawaii fashion graduates with materials gathered from Goodwill. This was followed by “The Elements of Goodwill,” which drew on the talents of five local stylists — Reise Kochi, Crystal Pancipanci, Rene Rodriguez and the duo of Kyle Kagamida and Allison Lee, who used Goodwill apparel and accessories to piece together eight ensembles each, based on the respective elements of earth, wind, fire and water.
