Merriman’s Waimea’s 25th: Merriman’s Waimea is planning a 25th-anniversary celebration from Monday through Dec. 13, with a special “All Big Island Grown” menu.

The three-course menu features grass-fed beef, lamb and local produce, all grown or raised within a few miles of the restaurant, as well as chef Peter Merriman’s signature dishes.

Local ranchers to be featured include the Hawaii Low Line Cattle Co., Kahua Ranch, Nakano Farm and Hirabara Farm.

In the spirit of holiday giving, Merriman’s is also making a $25,000 donation to five Hawaii-based organizations, including The Food Basket Inc., Hawaii Island United Way, Merriman’s Culinary Scholarship, The Hawaiian Island Land Trust and the Kahilu Theatre Foundation.

Dinner and Magic: Brasserie Du Vin in Honolulu Chinatown is presenting a holiday magic dinner show at 6 p.m. Dec. 21 and 28.

Start off the evening with a sparkling, wine cocktail followed by a holiday-themed dinner. Magician and illusionist Kaulana will offer table-side magic for guests.

Following dinner at the 1115 Bethel St. location, ticket holders will head down the block to performance space eleven44, 1144 Bethel St., for a full performance, then return to Du Vin for dessert and coffee.

Cost for the dinner and show package is $75 per person for 50 available seats. Show-only seats for the 7 p.m. performance are available for $25 (22 seats total, includes one cocktail). Guests must be 21 years and older. Call 545-1115 or visit duvinmagic.brownpapertickets.com.

Haiyan Benefit Dinner: Chef-owner Kevin Hanney of 12th Avenue Grill is bringing chefs together Tuesday for a dinner benefiting victims of Typhoon Haiyan.

Jason Schoonover, Lee Anne Wong, Quinten Frye, Pablo Perez and Ryan Durham will collaborate on a multicourse, farm-to-table dinner. Highlights include Kona cold lobster with kim chee tomato jam, South Shore tako with green chorizo, and Maui Lamb three ways.

Menu items will be paired with wine and beer selected by Tobie Cancino and cocktails by Mike Hall.

Cost is $150 per person, with 100 percent of ticket sales and gratuity going to the Consuelo Foundation. Cocktail reception begins at 5:30 p.m., dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. at 1120 12th Ave. Call 732-9469 or visit 12thavegrill.com to purchase tickets.

Japengo Holiday: Japengo’s menu for Dec. 24 and 25 is set.

Start with a flambeed hamachi nigiri sushi and lobster maki sushi followed by smoked Kona lobster with local avocado, corn, tomato and blue rice crisps, followed by Hawaii Ranchers Pulehu Rib Eye steak with mushrooms, corn and black truffle jus.

Dessert is a Japanese gelato cake with Matcha green tea, azuki bean and black sesame gelato.

Cost for the set menu is $95, $25 for youth ages 6 to 12; free for children 5 and under. Items will also be available a la carte.
