Oahu-born pop superstar Jack Johnson introduced a new song, “Na Ho‘okele Opiopio” (“The Young Navigators”), based on the voyaging canoe Hokule‘a on Saturday. Johnson collaborated with veteran island musician Chucky-Boy Chock on the song, which the two performed in Hawaiian and English at the Marine Education and Training Center as the Hokule‘a and Hikiniala floated behind them. They were joined on stage by local recording artist Paula Fuga and drummer Sam Ites.
