Hankburgers now available in Kakaako

Burger fans, rejoice — Hank’s Haute Dogs has introduced $4.95 Hankburgers, classic burgers served up on weekends from a food truck in Hank’s parking lot at 324 Coral St. in the new Kakaako hot spot bordered by Coral, Keawe and Auahi St.

(If the truck looks familiar, it used to operate as Melt HNL.)

After building a strong following with monthly burger specials at Hank’s, owner Henry “Hank” Adaniya discovered there was enough demand for the classic hand-formed, char-grilled burger dressed with lettuce, onion, tomato and Hank Sauce (a not-so-secret combination of ketchup, mustard and mayo) that a separate operation was economically feasible. A combo meal of burger, fries, haute dip and small soda is $8.70.

For those pride themselves on being deciders, you have one option — cheese or no cheese. The former will add 50 cents to your bill.

Along with Hankburgers, the truck serves up natural-cut fries with “haute dips” that feature flavors like chipotle, garlic aioli, wasabi and spicy curry. The sauce is good enough for both the fries and atop the burger (one sauce container is provided with the fries; additional containers are 50 cents each). Drinks are available, but customers must go inside Hank’s to fill up.

According to posted signage, service hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays and noon to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays (subject to change).
