Three Hawaii food and beverage industry professionals are semifinalists for the 2013 James Beard Foundation Restaurant and Chef Awards, revered in the industry:

» Master Sommelier Chuck Furuya, of DK Restaurants headquartered on Maui, Outstanding Wine, Spirits or Beer Professional

» Chef Ed Kenney, owner of town restaurant in Kaimuki, Best Chef: West (California and Hawaii)

» Quinten Frye of Salt Kitchen & Tasting Bar, also in Kaimuki, Rising Star Chef of the Year

The James Beard Awards are among the most prestigious culinary honors in the nation. Finalists will be announced March 18 and the awards will be presented in May.
