The Honolulu Zoo’s summer concert series, the 27th “Wildest Show in Town,” returns for its weekly Wednesday run starting June 12.
Hosted by ukulele master and teacher Roy Sakuma, the 10-concert series showcases some of the best musical talent in the islands.
Island music favorites Kapena will kick things off June 12, followed by:

» July 3: Holunape
» July 10: ManoaDNA
» July 17: Ukulele with Ohta San, Nando Suan, and guest international groups
» July 24: Rolando Sanchez and Salsa Hawaii
» July 31: Nelly and Daniel Baduria
» Aug. 7: Jimmy Borges and His Jazz All Stars
» Aug. 14: Na Leo Pilimehana
Gates open at 4:35 p.m., with the hour-long concert beginning at 6 p.m. Zoo exhibits close at 5:30 p.m. Sakuma will conduct ukulele prize drawings for both adults and children ages 6-12 before every concert.
Admission is $3 per person two years of age and older, with all proceeds going to the Honolulu Zoo Society. Food and drink will be available separately for a nominal fee, and pre-order bentos will also be sold by calling 729-1002.
There will be family activities before the concerts: a “Keiki Koloring Contest,” mini-guided tours for the first 30 people to sign up, and a conservation station of animal biofacts.
