Amid Chinatown’s bustling crowd and noisy Chinese New Year festivities on Jan. 24 and Jan. 25 — think fireworks, lion dances and a parade — there will also be a quiet spot where folks can take respite.
The “Secret Beer Garden: 2014 Year of the Horse!” will be open from 4 to 10 p.m. both days at the Mendonca Building, 1126 Smith St. The Chinatown courtyard will feature a new “Chinese Down-Tempo Lounge” as well.

» 64th Annual Narcissus Festival, Choy Cheng (lion dances) and Chinatown Open House: 5 to 9 p.m. Jan. 24 along the streets of Chinatown; free.
